Orland Memorial Park Cemetery was founded in 1859, and was known as the Orland Burial Ground. It was annexed to the Village of Orland Park in 1930, and the current name was adopted in 1936. The initial piece of land purchased for the cemetery was purchased from George Cox for $13.00 and the privilege of retaining a lot in the cemetery. The original Cox family monument still stands today. Many of the founding families and pioneers of the township are buried here. Senator John Humphrey who was responsible for organizing the Village of Orland Park is buried at the cemetery along with his family members.
